I just had a blast watching this again and I’m glad I did because it was one of my least favorite before but now it might not be a top favorite of mine but it’s definitely not one of my least. The art is fantastically drawn, crisp and nostalgic to me like every Ghibli movie. But the characters were so good and fun to follow and root for that it makes up for the story not being as Interesting for me. This just means that the story, as good as I thought it was now, isn’t really my cup of tea.

This doesn’t mean that it wasn’t good or it’s my least favorite or anything. The only problem I have with it was that I didn’t like most of the more adult joke they had and I didn’t get fully invested in the movie like I do other Ghibli movies. I understood all the jokes and more serious moments, the story was a lot more interesting to follow and I wasn’t board when watching it.
